Product Overview:

The MS4548 is a wideband RF mixer operating from 2 GHz to 15 GHz. It features a differential IF port, which can be converted to single-ended using an external balun depending on the target IF frequency. The differential IF interface is particularly suitable for low-IF applications (below 500 MHz) and can be directly cascaded with differential filters or IF amplifiers.

All RF, LO, and IF ports offer ultra-wideband performance:

  • RF frequency range: 2–15 GHz
  • LO frequency range: 1–14 GHz
  • IF frequency range: DC–6 GHz

The chip integrates an on-chip LO amplifier, enabling normal operation with a typical LO drive of 0 dBm, without the need for high-power local oscillator sources. An optional LO frequency doubler is also integrated, allowing the use of lower LO frequencies as needed, easing system-level LO generation requirements.

The MS4548 operates from a single 3.3 V power supply, offering a simple and easy-to-use interface.

It is available in both QFN package (MS4548E) and bare die (MS4548K) forms, and supports an extended operating temperature range of –40°C to +125°C.

Typical applications include microwave transceivers, wireless backhaul, point-to-point communication, phased array antennas, C/X/Ku-band radar systems, test instrumentation, and satellite modems.
